Everything you need before your visit.
Hours, forms, travel and competition paperwork, and answers to what people ask us most. Anything else, call the office and ask for a person by name.
Hours, and who picks up the phone.
The hospital is at 2933 Route 22 in Patterson, New York. The emergency line is answered every hour of every day. The front desk keeps regular hours and knows which of us you actually need.
Call (845) 878-7500 at any hour. After hours our answering service takes your message and the veterinarian on call calls you back.
Appointments, vaccinations, billing, insurance, and medication orders. Call (845) 878-7500.
Seven days a week. If those hours do not work, speak with the attending veterinarian and we will arrange a visit that does.
In an emergency, call the main line
Not your regular veterinarian's cell phone. The main line lets us triage your emergency and get you care as quickly as possible. A cell phone reaches one person who may be an hour away with their hands full. The office reaches whoever can help fastest.
Download it, fill it in, send it back.
Imaging request forms should reach us at least one day before the scheduled procedure. You or your referring veterinarian can complete them.
Return them to cdwyer@neequine.com or newenglandequine@neequine.com.

Moving a horse across state lines requires a Certificate of Veterinary Inspection. You need an up-to-date negative Coggins test first, and your horse must be seen by one of our veterinarians.
Some states accept a Coggins from the last six months; others require one from the last year. Individual requirements are listed in the AVMA state chart.
We manage Coggins and health certificates through GlobalVet. Your paperwork appears in HorseSync, and you can download the required photos from the app.
Flu letters
The USEF requires documentation of vaccination against equine influenza and equine herpes virus for any horse entering competition. We write the letter.
If your horse was vaccinated by another practice, send proof to cdwyer@neequine.com or fax (845) 878-7562. Put your name and contact information on the proof of vaccination so we can match it to your file.
The federation's own requirements are published in the USEF vaccination rule.
My horse has an emergency. What do I do right now?
Call (845) 878-7500. We answer it every hour of every day, including holidays.
During office hours a member of staff connects you to the veterinarian on call. After hours our answering service takes your message and the on-call veterinarian calls you back.
Transport and what to bring are covered on our emergency page.
Should I call the office or my own veterinarian's cell phone?
Always the main line. (845) 878-7500.
Calling the office lets us triage the emergency and route it to whoever can reach you fastest. Your regular veterinarian may be an hour away on another farm. The office knows who is not.
Can I visit my horse while it is hospitalized?
Yes. Visiting hours are 11:00am to 3:30pm, seven days a week.
If those hours do not work with your schedule, speak with the attending veterinarian and we will arrange a time that does.
Do you come out to the farm, or do I have to trailer in?
Both. We run an ambulatory practice alongside the hospital, so a great deal of routine and urgent work happens at your barn. Farm visits are for our established clients. The hospital is open to anyone, referred or not.
Cases needing imaging, surgery, isolation, or intensive care come to Patterson. Either way one practice carries the case start to finish, so nobody joins it halfway through.
Are you in Florida during the winter season?
Yes. We are available seasonally in Wellington, Florida from December through April.
Call the main line the same way you would at home and the office will connect you.
What do I need to get a health certificate?
Two things. An up-to-date negative Coggins test, and an examination of your horse by one of our veterinarians. We need both before we can issue one.
How recent the Coggins must be depends on the destination state: some accept six months, others require one year. Call the office and ask for Erin Yarochowicz, including for international travel.
How do I get a flu letter for competition?
Ask for Chris Dwyer at the office. The USEF requires documentation of vaccination against equine influenza and equine herpes virus for horses entering competition.
If another practice gave the vaccine, email proof to cdwyer@neequine.com or fax (845) 878-7562, with your name and contact information on it.
When do imaging request forms need to be back?
At least one day before the scheduled procedure. That applies to both the MRI and the nuclear scintigraphy forms.
Either you or your referring veterinarian can complete them. Send them to cdwyer@neequine.com or newenglandequine@neequine.com.
Who do I call about a bill, an appointment, or insurance?
All on (845) 878-7500, then ask for the right person.
Chris Dwyer for appointments, vaccination scheduling, and billing. Patti Arena for insurance. Erin Yarochowicz for medication orders and pharmaceutical questions.
Can my own veterinarian refer a case to you?
Yes, and we keep them in the loop through the whole case rather than taking it over.
Referring veterinarians can also send a horse in for imaging alone without transferring care. Details are on our page for referring veterinarians.
